HUE COOKING CLASSES

At An Nhien Garden near Hue, a family storyteller introduces you to the Nguyen Mau ancestral home, then leads you through an open-air display of more than 50 artworks. Chef Nhien teaches fig and king oyster mushroom salad and An Nhien rolls before you sit down to a five-course vegetarian Hue meal.

Meet Rosa, an English-speaking local chef, at her home near W-Factory in Hue. Over four hours, you’ll prepare four vegetarian dishes with fresh ingredients, share tea and conversation, then eat seven dishes in a family setting. The group is limited to 10, but finding the meeting point can take extra care.

In a cozy Hue kitchen, you’ll cook five traditional dishes and royal herbal tea with a local English-speaking chef. Choose vegetarian or non-vegetarian recipes, hear family stories, and eat the meal you make. The class lasts 150 minutes, costs $35, and limits the group to six people.

Meet local chef Anh for a three to four hour Hue food experience. Visit a local market, choose fresh ingredients, then cook and eat Vietnamese dishes at his home. Expect English instruction, knife tips, cultural insight, recipes, one water, and a small group capped at six.

Start with hotel pickup in Hoi An, shop for ingredients at the local market, then ride a coracle through Cam Thanh’s water coconut forest. A local chef, including Nhi or Phuoc on some departures, teaches rice paper, rice milk, fried spring rolls, and banh xeo before you eat the meal you prepared.

Meet local chef Madam Tran in her Hue home, where she guides you through Bún Bò Huế, Bánh Bèo Huế, and a banana flower or green mango salad. Tony may assist with driving and cooking. The 2.5-hour evening includes hotel pickup within 3 km, recipes, dinner, one drink, and a small group capped at 10.

Madam Tran, head chef, and Tony, driver and sous chef, make a delightful team. We were made to feel very welcome in the beautiful, feng shui designed, purpose built cooking area.
