★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 110 reviews · 3 hours (approx.) · from $145

Spend about three hours in Lucía’s home in Mexico City, cooking or watching a private lesson shaped around your tastes. This gastronomic historian teaches traditional dishes, regional ingredients, salsas, desserts, and the cultural stories behind them. You’ll eat your meal in her garden or patio, with Mexican beer or tequila included.

“My family had an amazing experience cooking mouthwatering Mexican dishes under masterful guidance of Lucia in her charming home. We shared stories, laughs, and amazing meal. I’m afraid quesadillas are forever ruined for me as I’m unlikely to find quesadillas that would taste as fantastic as the ones we made as a group. We received a lot of cooking tips that are easily transferable to home cooking. It was very nice seating outside on the patio having the meal that we all prepared. It was a lifetime memory for my family that we will cherish forever. Very grateful to have had this incredible cooking experience. Highly recommend.”

With a guide such as Ricardo, you’ll taste vegetarian tamales, atole, quesadillas, sopes, or gorditas, ride the metro to Jamaica Market, and make either salsa or a huarache at a family-run eatery.

“The part of the tour that I would give 5* is the Jamaican Market tour and cooking our own salsa - including the group metro ride from the old town. Having more time for this would have been even better. Our tour didn't finish until 2pm, and ended in a rush. The first half of the tour was walking around the old town, including inside the Cathedral and seeing some fascinating murals that we'd never have found on our own. This took us by surprise, as it was not included in the descroption if this tour, and was not really food related. You could lose this part of the tour…”
