Spend about four hours with Dewa and his family in Keliki, north of Ubud. Walk through village gardens, learn about Balinese herbs and customs, then cook dishes such as tuna in banana leaves, turmeric chicken, and corn fritters over a wood-fired stove. Private Ubud transfers, recipes, beer, and a family meal are included.

“Dewa was such a loving and warm-hearted host. He taught us about his culture, gave us a tour of the wild vegetation that was used for our meals and opened his home to us to learn how to cook. We cooked 5 traditional Balinese meals that were easy to remake (I cook these regularly at home in New York) and were absolutely delicious. My sister and I had so much fun! We will be returning for a Part-2 cooking class to learn more.”

Bali: Private Balinese Cooking Class in a Family Home

4.Private Balinese Cooking Class in a Family Home

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 87 reviews · 6 hours · from $52Best value

Spend six hours traveling from your hotel to a Balinese market and family home, where an English-speaking guide and local cooks lead you through 5 to 6 dishes. Choose a standard or vegetarian menu, eat what you make, and add options such as Luwak coffee, a massage, or a jungle swing.

“I had an absolutely lovely time with Nyoman today, as majority of the market was closed due to celebrations he took through as well as going close by to get Balinese coffee that I had spoken about on the way! Always appreciate a guide that listens to you! We then went back and met his family and had an amazing and educational cooking experience. I was by myself as well which always makes me hesitant to do things like this but it was an absolutely blast! Highly recommend! And the food was amazing!”
